a painter, illustrator, and creative mentor currently based in North Carolina.
Delayna Robbins is a painter, illustrator, and creative mentor currently based in North Carolina. Known online as A Colorful Chaos, she creates vibrant, Afro-Surrealist artwork that explores themes of healing, identity, ancestry, and divine love.
Raised in a military family and now deeply rooted in the Triangle art community, Delayna blends her lived experiences with spiritual symbolism and storytelling. As an HBCU Alumni, she received a B.A. in Graphic Design from Elizabeth City State University, but found her true voice through painting. She loves experimenting with bold color, layered textures, and surreal imagery to explore the emotional and spiritual landscapes of Black life.
Her practice includes community interviews, commissions, and YouTube vlogs where she shares process videos, affirmations, and reflections on the artist’s journey. From mural work and children’s book illustrations to one-on-one mentorship, Delayna’s mission is to remind people that art is a tool for transformation, one that can heal not only the spirit, but the stories we carry.
She’s most proud of building a creative home within the North Carolina art scene and remains dedicated to making work that feels empowering, magical, and deeply human.
